Why do you have to put a top coat of nail polish on?

I was told that you should put a bottom coat of nail polish on then the color then the top coat and every time i do that the nail polish start to chip off after a couple of days why is that because any time i did my nail i didn't put a bottom coat of nail polish on or a top coat and it last allot longer why does it chip after a couple of days if you put the top and bottom coat onWhy do you have to put a top coat of nail polish on?
so the nail polish does not ruin your nails. and the op coat it supposed to keep it on longerWhy do you have to put a top coat of nail polish on?
the bottom coat, which is the base coat is applied because it helps from staining your nail plate %26amp; the top coat usually seals the nail polish for it to last longer plus it'll make your nail polish more glossy looking.

%26amp; if your nail polish is chipping, maybe you're doing something a lot w/ your hands, like washing the dishes or w/e.
yes its suppose to help preserve the polish and help make your nail shine and help enhance the color.

but idk what's wrong cause usually when i do coats it does everything it's suppose to.

maybe your to active with your hands that it chips more? sorry idk..
