Is it really necessary to put on a base coat when applying nail polish? isn't all the same chemicals and...?

ingredients, just clear instead of coloured? I can understand a top coat but not a base coat as every fashion magazine encourages!!!!Is it really necessary to put on a base coat when applying nail polish? isn't all the same chemicals and...?
Yeah... it's not necessary, it's a whole thing for purchasing makeup products, your nails and hair are healthy based on what you put into your body if you put vitamin rich base coat on your nails or shampoo/conditioner on your hair really it doesnt improve anythingIs it really necessary to put on a base coat when applying nail polish? isn't all the same chemicals and...?
A base coat will help to create a more even canvas for your coloured polishes. Such as if you have small indents in your nails (or ridges), applying a base coat can help to fill those in and make the nail smoother. You can just use a clear nail polish if you want, but a base coat could work better.

It's like using a primer for foundation or eyeshadow. IT helps to create a smooth canvas, and to help the products you apply afterward stay on longer.

By your logic, you should also be questioning the reason/need for a top coat. Not all polishes have the same ingredients - such as ones made to strengthen nails are different than those designed to help grow your nails. Same with coloured polishes and top and base coats.

Base coats help the nail polish to apply more evenly and to adhere to your nail better, while a top coat is used to help set the nail polish, prevent fading and prevent major chipping.
I think that it is a really good idea to use a base coat. Like the person about me said the base coat will help the nail polish go on smother. The base coat also helps the colored nailpolish stick onto your nails better. Another really good thing that a base coat does is that it prevents colored nail polish from staining your nails . Ive found that a base coat, 2 coats of colored polish and a top coat makes my nail polish stay on for at least 3-4 days chip free.
