How many coats of nail polish do you usually apply?

I usually do one coat.How many coats of nail polish do you usually apply?
Two, then I might add shine or glitter.

3 coats would look good and it usually depends on the colour........if its dark then 2 and if its light then 3 or 4
A good nail polish gets a even finish and shine with 2 coats. Few colours requires 3 coats for long lasting nail color but i would say 2 coats are enough.
