How exactly does a top coat (for nails) work? Can i use a clear nail polish instead?

Hmm that's what i use.. is there a special top coat for nails out there? :SHow exactly does a top coat (for nails) work? Can i use a clear nail polish instead?
ok , top coats have better durability and usually help in the drying. the best on the market is Seche Vite. it is a fast drying top coat. as for using a clear? it will work, but it won't help the polish last. keys....make sure the nail is really clean of any oils. (wipe it off with acetone, or polish remover) then apply a base coat, 2 coats of color, and then a top coat. natural nails try Qtica, great for manicures. good luckHow exactly does a top coat (for nails) work? Yes, it will work the same. It just makes a glossy coat for it so yes, the clear nail polish will work to. Basically the professional top coat will last longer than clear nail polish but, it will still work if you don't want to go to the store and spend $10 on the top coat ( guesstamit)
A top coat protects the polish from fading or major chipping. It can also strengthen and shine. Regular clear doesn't help.
it just protects your polish from fading in the sun and chiping. yes you can use clear nail polish instead thats what i do! =]]

hope this helps
